My Story
The experiences and values that shape my work.
Some of the most meaningful lessons I've learned came from the challenges I've faced myself. I have spent much of my life paying close attention to how people move through life’s most difficult seasons, always drawn to the deeper meaning behind thoughts, choices, and behavior. Every story holds value—especially the parts that feel messy, unresolved, painful, or hard to name. When I chose the name Renewed Hope Counseling & Wellness, it was never just a label. It reflects the foundation of this work: the belief that even in seasons marked by uncertainty or despair, there is still a way forward—toward understanding, restoration, and hope.
I found that hope through my faith and through my own healing work, shaped by the empathy and presence of a therapist who believed deeply in the power of connection. That experience continues to guide how I show up for others. I strive to offer a space where clients can show up as they are—whether that means reflecting, crying, laughing, sitting quietly, unraveling, or beginning to mend. Being invited into someone’s inner world, particularly when it involves deep emotional pain or trauma, is something I hold with great care. I honor the courage it takes to share the parts of oneself that feel fragile or broken, and I see my role as protecting that trust while supporting each person as they rebuild and reconnect with who they are.
My path toward counseling began with a desire to support individuals who feel unseen, unsupported, or unsure how to navigate the challenges placed before them. I felt called to walk alongside those who didn’t receive the guidance or tools they deserved early in life, yet continued to show up and persevere despite adversity. During my graduate training, I experienced a profound personal shift when my own family system unraveled due to long-standing dysfunction. Living through that period deepened my understanding of how family dynamics shape safety, identity, and connection—and reinforced a belief I already held: healing is possible, even when the past feels heavy or confusing.
That chapter didn’t just inform my clinical perspective; it made the work deeply personal. It strengthened my commitment to creating an environment where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered to examine patterns, break cycles, and move toward the life they want to build.
My approach is shaped by both lived experience and intentional training. I grew up in a small town in East Texas, where close-knit relationships highlighted the lasting impact of family and relational bonds. At nineteen, I joined the military—an experience that deepened my respect for resilience, structure, and shared responsibility. Over time, I came to see that periods of struggle—whether related to relationships, faith, or major life transitions—can become meaningful turning points when met with compassion and thoughtful guidance.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from American Military University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Throughout my education and professional work, I’ve had the opportunity to serve diverse individuals and communities, each reinforcing the importance of empathy, trust, and collaboration in the healing process. I believe therapy works best as a shared effort—one built on safety, insight, and genuine connection.
Outside of this work, I enjoy traveling, creating art, writing, and spending time with my family. These parts of my life keep me grounded and remind me that even in the midst of hardship, small sparks of happiness hold the joy and meaning that truly shape our lives. Together with my education and experience, they shape how I approach therapy—with curiosity, warmth, and deep respect for each person’s story.
Every experience continues to teach me about resilience, adaptability, and the quiet moments that lead to real change. I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside individuals as they face challenges, uncover strengths, and move toward greater clarity and hope.
I would be honored to support you—offering space for reflection, growth, and the small breakthroughs that happen along the way.
I look forward to connecting with you. :)
